This branch is work in progress ; hence the `WIP' prefix in most commit
descriptions. I've pushed it to make these patches available to FĂ©lix,
who is working on the topic of efficiency and parallel computing within
Milena. I'll rework these patches later (before merging them into
`next', of course).
