Résumé (en français):
Cette thèse est divisée en deux parties, chacune explorant différents aspects de la photogrammétrie sous-marine : depuis l'acquisition initiale des données jusqu'au traitement complexe des données nécessaires pour construire des nuages de points 3D des structures du fond marin. La première partie se concentre sur les défis logistiques et techniques inhérents à la collecte de données sous-marines, qui est souvent coûteuse et nécessite à la fois un équipement sophistiqué et des plongeurs qualifiés. L'objectif principal est de concevoir des méthodes qui simplifient et réduisent les coûts des explorations sous-marines, rendant ainsi plus réalisable l'élargissement du champ de la surveillance environnementale et l'amélioration de la compréhension des régions côtières sous-marines. Un développement notable dans cette recherche est la création d'un système multi-caméras synchronisé utilisant des composants grand public à faible coût. Ces composants sont logés dans un boîtier étanche conçu sur mesure. Le système est monté sur une plateforme robotique, améliorant son utilité dans les opérations sur le terrain. L'architecture de ce système permet la synchronisation de plusieurs caméras indépendantes, leur permettant de fonctionner individuellement ou ensemble, et peut être coordonnée avec un vecteur de plateforme pour synchroniser la capture d'images avec d'autres capteurs. La deuxième contribution clé de cette partie est la création d'une plateforme d'acquisition de surface modulaire conçue pour utiliser efficacement le système de caméra susmentionné. En remplaçant la carte de contrôle principale traditionnelle pour le logiciel de pilotage automatique par une carte du commerce largement disponible, cette approche réduit les coûts et atténue le risque de pénuries de composants. Les expériences terrain utilisant cette plateforme robotique, avec sa configuration à plusieurs caméras, incluent des missions sous-marines autonomes avec des plongeurs et présentent le traitement des données recueillies à travers un pipeline de photogrammétrie classique, incorporant les informations supplémentaires telles que les coordonnées GPS et les contraintes rigides de caméra. La deuxième partie de la thèse se concentre sur le processus de photogrammétrie, spécifiquement les défis d'estimation de pose dans le cadre du Structure-from-Motion (SfM). Elle introduit une méthode novatrice qui utilise un filtrage aléatoire de l'orientation des triplets d'images pour faciliter l'estimation initiale de la pose et utilise les données filtrées pour l'optimisation hiérarchique de la pose. Cette approche innovante utilise le graphe épipolaire de la scène pour générer un hypergraphe de vues, où un arbre couvrant aléatoire aide à filtrer et à affiner l'estimation de la pose en fonction des erreurs de reprojection à travers diverses orientations. Cette méthode a été validée sur plusieurs ensembles de données avec différentes géométries d'acquisition, démontrant la robustesse de la méthode de notation des triplets et donnant des résultats prometteurs. En outre, la partie propose une stratégie d'optimisation hiérarchique pour l'orientation de la pose qui emploie une méthodologie de diviser pour régner. En tirant parti du meilleur arbre couvrant de l'hypergraphe de vue, la scène est segmentée selon la hiérarchie de l'arbre, et chaque segment est optimisé à partir d'une pose initiale connue. Cette approche a été testée sur les mêmes ensembles de données que l'estimation initiale de la pose, démontrant des résultats encourageants dans des scènes bien initialisées et suggérant la possibilité d'améliorations notables dans des scénarios plus complexes. En résumé, cette thèse aborde les défis techniques de la photogrammétrie sous-marine et offre de nouvelles solutions qui pourraient aider à réduire les coûts et améliorer l'accessibilité et la précision de la surveillance environnementale sous-marine.

La section importante, à prendre en considération, est intitulée "Compétences" du Conseil ; elle cadre les sujets qu'il peut aborder.
