It's a simple optimization.
Am I missing something, or else, shouldn't strc optimize this by
itself? I agree the latter is nicer anyway, but that's not the
point.
I don't know, strc seems to have many different level of optimizations (from
-O 0 through -O 6) but I always used -O 2.
Maybe this case is optimized with a higher -O level...
